Mochuelo

Let us remember how impossible is to keep a straight face when being with brother Mochuelo. Few minutes will pass, and you will be hearing an unexpected comment or statement that will crack you up. It could be about the hairdo of a fellow on the street, the current political scenario, or the gait of any of us. It does not matter what about, try as you may serious you will not remain. Brother Mochuelo stares out of his big eyes laughing at the world, and his company will get you laughing too. 

Now, frequently we have wondered how does a fighting spirit looks like. Definitively, it has to be disentangled from anger. Those that let themselves run amok might fight frequently, yet are just as likely as to stay there, endlessly fighting the world, and themselves. A fighting spirit should be more than just defiance and challenge. Perhaps a fighting spirit realizes that a fight is but a last resource, our life being so short, and so hilarious. Why take ourselves so seriously, after all? Are we not silly speckles of dust, peripatetically moving on just a bigger one? Is it not such picture risible? Turn yourself towards brother Mochuelo right now, and ask his opinion. You will see how risible are we indeed. 

Yet turn to brother Mochuelo when his sword is about to sing, and you will not be inclined to laugh. As ridiculous as our life can be, when the time comes life is all we have. And just as we laugh until our bellies ache at our follies, fight until the bitter end we’ll do, if fight we must. 

So for you that have not seen brother Mochuelo other than making you laugh at this silly life of ours, surprising might be that he and brother Badger, that other whole hearted brother of us, have won those fighting spirit awards. But they are so kind, you might think. But do look at them when committed, I ask you. Total commitment they have, be that to embrace you, to make you laugh, or to cut you down. Perhaps that is what a fighting spirit is about. Perhaps is that deep laugh of them, that capacity of enjoying our world to the end what a fighting spirit is.
