Ixus is a sailing boat from the schakel class. Her design is owed to Lutyens and Kopmans (1961), on request from the Royal Dutch Sailing Bond. The goal was to create a sailing boat amenable to both competition, touring and self making. As such, there is a trapeze, full aquaplaning capacity, and two adults can comfortably sleep inside (4,7 x 1,7 mts, main 7,7 jib 4,2 mts2)
I bought Ixus few years back. I sailed with great pleasure for a whole summer in the Loosdrechtse plassen. The next season I was hampered of sailing by an injured arm. When I got to retake the sailing in the following season I discovered that my free time had become more oriented to diving and fencing than to sailing. I believe it is wrong to own a sailing boat and not sailing it, and because of that I’m looking forward to pass her to somebody capable of appreciation.
Ixus will be passed on with a winter tarpaulin, own trailer and all the gear needed to sail right away plus several liters of specialized painting and a motor (evinrude 2hp). Far more important, when I took her out of the water I did a full sanding myself, followed by several layers of lackering. The wood is in perfect condition all over, fact that can be checked personally, since I prefer transparent barniz than any opaque colors.
The market value of Ixus, considering her state and all what comes along exceeds the 1000 euros. Nevertheless I am interested in passing Ixus to a person that value and will sail her, rather than to recover my own investment. I am then open to pretty much any reasonable offer.
